about the judges



Chaya Kumar





Chaya began dancing at the age of 10, training in the discipline of Bharatanatyam for 10 years thereafter. She then went on to working and choreographing for Blue Flame Productions, a performing arts company based out of Dallas, Texas. Shortly after college, Chaya moved to LA, in 2015, to further pursue a career in the entertainment and arts, leading her to a position within the Corporate Responsibility division of Warner Bros., and then eventually BFunk.



pranav patel





Pranav is a professional dancer based out of the greater New York City area. His styles include bollywood, bhangra, afro, contemporary, hip hop, and Indian folk. He began dancing competitively six years ago as a member of Northwestern Anubhav. During his tenure both as a dancer and board member, the team saw success across the nation, including winning the 2014 Bollywood America National Championship. He later joined BU Jalwa for one year, during which the team had an unprecedented season. After retiring from collegiate dancing, he became a founding member and company dancer for Exodus Artistry, a professional dance company based out of New York, with whom he won Season One of Dance USA Dance in 2017. He also toured as a core cast member for Bollywood Boulevard: A Journey Through Hindi Cinema, which began touring in 2017 at the Lincoln Center in NYC. In Boston, he stays connected to the dance community as one of the Directors for both Boston Bhangra Competition and South Asian Showdown. In 2018, Pranav co-founded AfroDesi, a new fusion style merging afro and indo elements. AfroDesi just finished its first national tour as well as a series in Tanzania and is looking forward to a world tour later this year. He is really looking forward to judging Bollywood America 2019 for what is sure to be a spectacular show!



shahil patel





Shahil Patel is the Co-Founder and CEO of BollyX. Prior to BollyX, he served as the President, CEO and Artistic Director of Ishaara Dance Company, the first-ever Bollywood group in history to make the Semifinals of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent!” He has choreographed, produced, and led over 200 Bollywood performances for private clients nationwide including Walmart, Pepsi, Cisco, Wyndham, and ATT. He has also performed alongside celebrity superstars including Gloria Estefan, Jamie Foxx and Diana Ross. Shahil is an AFAA certified fitness instructor and leads BollyX instructor trainings across the US. Something less known about Shahil is that he grew up with two left feet and first started dancing in college not too long ago. Fueled by his growing obsession over Bollywood and newfound confidence, he quickly ascended to the highest ranks of the competitive intercollegiate dance circuit, leading his college team to an unprecedented 7 first-place prizes over 2 consecutive seasons. As a self-trained student in the art of Bollywood, he is excited to share his transformational experience with the world!



shivani bhagwan





Shivani started dancing at age 10 and trained in Kathak and folk styles of dance in Michigan. She then went on to be the captain of the Michigan state raas team (RaaSparty) for 3 years and competed in over 14 competitions nationwide. She moved to LA in 2016 and continues to train from world renowned choreographers.



shivani gandhi





Shivani Gandhi is a versatile choreographer, judge, performer and instructor from Atlanta, Georgia. Shivani is the Founder and Creative Director of Dancin' Gandhi, an event entertainment company specializing in custom choreography, dance lessons, and hiring exceptional talent to enhance any special occasion. Shivani began dancing when she was five and has continued to nurture her passion for dance by exploring various dance disciplines throughout the years. She enjoys teaching and incorporating Bollywood, Indian Classical Fusion, Contemporary, Latin Fusion, Hip Hop, Raas/Garba, and several other Indian Folk dances to create innovative and exciting choreography. At the tender age of thirteen, Shivani completed her Arangetram from the Kruti Dance Academy. This classical background allowed Shivani to broaden her dance horizons with confidence and grace. She received a Certificate of Excellence after training at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City, concentrating in Contemporary and Hip Hop. During her college years at Georgia State University, Shivani founded and served as the captain of Paheli, a fusion dance team, choreographing competition dances and was also a member of Southern Raaspitality. A highlight of Shivani’s dance career was when she competed on Zee TV’s Dance India Dance Season 3 show placing in the Top 36 as the only US contestant! She has judged A-Town Showdown, ATL Tamasha, and Miss India Georgia. Shivani judged Bollywood America 2013 in Miami, FL and is excited to be experiencing it again in her hometown!
